US president Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. According to the Nobel Foundation, Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics.
Yes, he has definitely made a mark in the world politics for establishing peace. I think it is a well thought out decision by the Nobel Foundation to strengthen the thoughts and hands of the US president who is known for his penchant for restoring peace in the world. His intention was clear when he announced, during his swearing in ceremony in January this year, his attitude on Muslims. He had in no uncertain terms announced that he will not follow a confrontationist policy towards the muslim world, mcuh against the earlier policies.
The luminaries who have won the coveted prize include Mother Teresa, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Martin Luther King Jr. But, all of these personalities had been bestowed with the prize after several years of their contribution to the world peace.
But, the US presidents probably is the first person to get this award just some months of his efforts to create an atmosphere of peace in the world.
Long live his policies and peace in the world.
